Stop Art Fraud

March 2013

Another friend alerted me to a manipulated photograph of my “Dream Chasers – Best of Breed” that was posted on Facebook. While sharing photos is a compliment to an artist’s work, sharing photos of a living artist’s copyrighted work should include credit given to the artist and the photographer. Once alerted to what I would like to think is her unintentional misdeed, between Facebook’s copyright department and this person, the image is no longer on her page.

February 4, 2013, Thieves take More of my Mind and Money…

My eagle eyed Danish friend Susanne emailed me with a link to an auction site, Lauritz.com, showing where they had for sale a pair of “Squirrel Season” smooth bookends at their Hamburg, Germany, auction house. They had been presented with a table and the bookends (bronze or pot metal?) to sell as a unit and had no idea that the bookends were fraudulent copies. As requested, Lauritz promptly contacted the seller who said he had bought the bookends in China about four years ago, saying “Bronze was everywhere.”

Details: Only the male dachshund was copied for this pair of bookends. It is cast Bronze? Or pot metal? The dogs are mounted on dark green marble and measure 11”H x 7 1/2” W x 7” D. The entire pair of bookends is much larger than my 1:6 Scale original.

March 26, 2011, Thieves take my Time, Mind and Money…

Little did I think I would spend well over a month tracking thieves of my intellectual property: “Squirrel Season” and “So Good to See You.” When a friend found resin copies of Squirrel Season in a gift shop, I remembered that someone else had told me about them being on eBay last fall, when Edgar was so sick that I had no time to follow up. Since then, I have learned more about copyright infringement than I ever cared to know. While copies are flattering, they are ILLEGAL!

Long story, short, PLEASE, if you see any sculpture that remotely looks like anything on my site, in a shop, a catalog, on eBay or any other part of the web, kindly TELL ME who, what, when and where. If you see it in person, please report to me any information you see on the piece other than a “Made In China” sticker, if that is on the fake. Take pictures if you can, and email them to me. PLEASE do NOT spare my feelings.

Please, BE NO FRIEND OF FRAUD!

If you see anything that looks like a copy of my work, I will be grateful if you will tell me as much information as you can. Thank you very much!
