Jaye Gregory September 9, 1952 – January 16, 2016

Sara Jane “Jaye” Gregory came into my life in about 1989-90, when my oil paint got thick. I decided to try sculpture again after taking one semester with H. Richard Duhme at Washington University School of Fine Arts back in the 60s. Jaye, my second sculpture teacher, taught at St. Louis Community College – Meramec. I went on to take figurative sculpture from her, Rudi Torrini and Hank Knickmeyer at Fontbonne University, then known as Fontbonne College. In the beginning we became friends, sharing our love of art, beautiful stone and gardening. Jaye Gregory was a highly talented sculptor, an excellent teacher and a sweetheart. I miss her very much.

"A good painting (sculpture) to me has always been like a friend. It keeps me company, comforts and inspires."
