I enjoy collecting acorns and wish I could take credit for the idea for “A Squirrel’s Dream”. Interestingly, at my 55th high school reunion in September 2017, a classmate, John Schneller, expressed his love for white oak acorns and commissioned me to make this white oak acorn. John and Judy Schneller set it on a stone among five oak trees in Glen Oaks, West Des Moines, IA, where they enjoy it from their kitchen window!
During my husband Brian’s daily walk in Queeny Park St. Louis County, he collected white oak acorns from which I chose this one for my model. It spoke to me. “Wow! What a job I will be!” said the mighty acorn! I will be lovely in a garden!”
Many massive trees in Queeny Park have signs next to them declaring their age as being over 250 years old. So, from an acorn that was produced by one of these stately trees, “A Squirrel’s Dream” was born! Thank you, my friend, Karryl Salit, for the title.
May “A Squirrel’s Dream” enjoy a long, healthy life in your garden!
All pieces include my mark, Each is made by hand one at a time in Colorado, USA.
Each is signed and numbered. Enjoy!
