A Bit About Patinas

Your monitor shows colors differently than my monitor and differently from your friend’s monitor. Photography requires very bright lighting to capture details. Patinas will be darker than what you see on your monitor. Therefore, your basic patina choices are:

1. "Toad" is red with a bit of light green in the recesses. It is my favorite and is standard on 1:6 scale dachshunds. While the "Toad" patina may appear orange on your monitor, it is a more subtle color that becomes more beautiful with time.
2. "Tomatoes" is a traditional reddish bronze patina, and is my favorite patina on life-sized dachshunds. The "Tomatoes" patina has a more antique bronze appearance in person.
3. "Black & Tan" is the standard patina on a Gordon Setter, and is special order on dachshunds. The "Black & Tan" patina is very subtle, and dark. It looks like bronze and totally unlike painted ceramic.
4. "Wild Boar" is a slight variation of black & tan, and is a special order patina for a wire-haired dachshund. It looks like bronze and totally unlike painted ceramic. Remember, this is not a dog, but rather a bronze dog.
5. "Golden Toad" is great on Golden Retrievers and some other breeds. It is more subtle and beautiful than may appear on your monitor.

I hope this is helpful in making your decision about a patina.
